First Generation

1. James1 BROWN was born in Stromness, Orkney Islands, Scotland. James died.

He married Ann Angus STANGER in Victoria, Australia, 4 February 1864. Ann was born in Stromness, Orkney Islands, Scotland CA1840/43. Ann was the daughter of Thomas STANGER and Christiana ANGUS. Ann died 16 February 1871 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, at 29 years of age. Her body was interred 1871 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Melbourne General Cemetery. Ann immigrated, 15 July 1851. Destination: Australia.

James's occupation: Miner. After Ann's death James Brown Took his son Robert to New Zealand. James was later lost at sea leaving Robert an orphan. It is believed Robert's uncle, Joseph Stanger, went to New Zealand to bring him back to Victoria. He was raised by the stanger family at Waaia.

James BROWN and Ann Angus STANGER had the following children:

child 3 ii. Elizabeth Mary BROWN was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 1867. Elizabeth died 1868 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, at 1 year of age. Her body was interred 1867 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Melbourne General Cemetery.

child + 4 iii. Robert Williamson Stanger BROWN was born 1868.

child 5 iv. Thomas James BROWN was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 1870. Thomas died 1871 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, at 1 year of age. His body was interred 1871 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Melbourne General Cemetery.
