First Generation

1. William Henry George1 VON SLEEMAN was born in Germany 1834.

He married Emma NELSON in Sydney, N.S.W., Australia, 1869. Emma was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 1849.

William immigrated, 17 December 1852. Destination: Australia. Williams mother died at his birth. Because of a stepmother and military training he ran away to sea. Desserted ship in Australia and went gold digging. He became a natualised Australian and took the name of Slee and after marriage he again changed his name this time to Nelson-Slee. He Later became Chief Inspector of Mines in N.S.W., Justice of the Peace and a Fellow of Geographical Society. (Source Barbara Hamilton)

William Henry George VON SLEEMAN and Emma NELSON had the following children:

child 2 i. George Peabody2 NELSON-SLEE was born 1870. George died 1873 at 3 years of age.

child + 3 ii. Herman NELSON-SLEE was born 6 March 1872.

child 4 iii. Regina Ellen NELSON-SLEE was born 1874. She married H. MARTIN. (See H. MARTIN for the continuation of this line.)

child 5 iv. Emma Ady Mary NELSON-SLEE was born 1876. She married Henry Arthur ICETON-SMITH 1903. Henry was born in Australia 11 December 1872. (See Henry Arthur ICETON-SMITH for the continuation of this line.)
