With the need for an e-mail address becoming as ubiquitous as the need for the fax machine was during the eighties, It's now becoming more important than ever to put this very useful technology to work for you.
One way to do this is by having more than one e-mail address. This is now a relatively easy thing to achieve with a number of web site hosts on the Internet offering free e-mail addresses.

Now I have suggested this approach for a particular reason, that being one of self preservation and protection from unsolicited postings. Armed with two e-mail addresses, you can now have one, which you use for trusted correspondence (family, friends and other known associates), the other for the un-trusted (Internet download sites, on-line surveys, subscription sites etc.). The next step is to set up some basic filtering to put any un-trusted incoming mail into a folder separate from your standard inbox. This will give you an opportunity to review this mail in isolation knowing that it is not trusted correspondence.
